What Some Possible Concerns About Staglin Family Vineyard ?

While opinions may vary, here are some potential issues that some people may have with Staglin Family Vineyard:

Staglin Family Vineyard History

Staglin Family Vineyard, located in the heart of California's Napa Valley, is an iconic winery that has established itself as a leader in the world of fine wine. The Staglin Family's journey in the wine industry began decades ago and is characterized by a compelling blend of passion, innovation, and unwavering commitment to quality.

The story of the Staglin Family Vineyard dates back to the late 1970s when Garen and Shari Staglin acquired a picturesque 64-acre estate in the Rutherford Bench region of the Napa Valley. At that time, the land was primarily planted with fruit orchards, but the Staglins saw its potential for grape cultivation, recognizing the area's unique climate and soil characteristics.

In 1985, with their strong belief in the potential of their property, the Staglins founded Staglin Family Vineyard. The couple had a vision to produce world-class wines that would rival the best in the industry. They embarked on an ambitious journey to establish their vineyard as one of the premier wineries in Napa Valley, and their unwavering dedication to their craft soon paid off.

The Staglins were not content to simply produce outstanding wines; they were determined to make a positive impact on society as well. In 1991, tragedy struck when their son, Brandon, was diagnosed with schizophrenia. This life-altering event prompted Garen and Shari to become advocates for mental health, leading them to start the Staglin Family Vineyard's Music Festival for Mental Health—an annual event that brings together the worlds of music and mental health to raise funds and awareness for research and treatment.

Amidst these personal challenges, the Staglins continued to push the boundaries of winemaking, embracing innovative techniques and sustainable practices in their vineyard. They implemented meticulous farming methods, including organic and biodynamic practices, to enhance the quality of their grapes and protect the environment. Their commitment to sustainability was recognized in 2007 when Staglin Family Vineyard became the first Napa Valley winery to earn the prestigious Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

The Staglins' dedication to excellence and the pursuit of perfection is reflected in the exceptional wines they produce. The winery's flagship wine, the Staglin Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, has gained worldwide acclaim and is revered for its depth, complexity, and aging potential. The family's portfolio also includes a Chardonnay and a Bordeaux-style blend named "Salus," which pays tribute to their commitment to mental health.

Over the years, Staglin Family Vineyard has garnered numerous accolades, consistently receiving high ratings from renowned wine critics and publications. Their wines have been showcased at prestigious events and honored with esteemed awards, solidifying their reputation as one of California's most distinguished wineries.

The Staglin family's unwavering dedication to both winemaking excellence and philanthropy has cemented their legacy in Napa Valley and beyond. Through their exceptional wines and their commitment to mental health advocacy, the Staglins have demonstrated that a winery can not only produce outstanding creations but also contribute to making the world a better place.

Introduction

Hello, my name is Franklin Laurel - Welcome!

I started drinking wine in 1992 when I was in my early twenties and recently married. Like many other young Southern Californians, it started out with White Zinfandel. As we were a couple of young DINKs just beginning life together, and on a budget, our go-to-wine was Sutter Home White Zinfandel, which tasted a lot like wine coolers and probably cost at the time $2.49. If we really were going to splurge, we would step it up and buy Beringer White Zinfandel for $2.99. Those were the days....

After a little time, we decided to get fancy. We stepped up our game and bought some wonderful 2-Buck Chuck from Trader Joe's. The Charles Shaw (Trader Joe's Exclusive Label) wine, also known as 2-Buck-Chuck extended our pallet into Reds for only $1.99 a bottle. Over the years we continued to grow in our understanding of wine (finally ran into some good wine) and we slowly kept buying better and better bottles.

Our first wine club purchase was from Kenwood's Vineyards, in Kenwood, California located in Sonoma Valley, right next to the famous Napa Valley. I began to learn about tobacco leather, and earthiness, and lots of other strange terminology when tasting their signature Zinfandels (of the red variety). So that is how it all began.

Fast forward a couple decades, and we have been members of five different wine clubs, and now have a passion for California's red wines. My favorite by far is Cabernet Sauvignon, while my wife fancies a good Syrah, Malbec, or Merlot - but she also loves the smell of a wine barrel room, which is all about the notes of Cabernet Sauvignon.

As I come across great wine resources and useful information that I find in planning my own wine trips, I will share here for anyone that might stumble across my humble website.

Cheers! - Franklin Laurel
