What Makes Acquiesce Winery
Different From Other Nearby Wineries?
Acquiesce Winery stands out among other wineries in the region for several compelling reasons.
1) Dedication to White Rhône Varietals: Acquiesce Winery is unique in California as it exclusively focuses on crafting exceptional white Rhône varietal wines. While many wineries in the region also produce red wines, Acquiesce Winery has made a deliberate and passionate choice to specialize in these specific grape varieties. This dedication allows them to explore the full potential of white Rhône varietals in the California climate and produce wines with impeccable character and nuance.
2) Estate-Grown Grapes: One of the hallmarks of Acquiesce Winery is that it carefully tends to its own vineyards where all the grapes used in the winemaking process are grown. By practicing this hands-on approach, the winery has complete control over the quality and expression of their wines, ensuring that only the finest grapes make it into the production. This commitment to estate-grown grapes further enhances the overall uniqueness and integrity of Acquiesce wines.
3) Organic and Sustainable Practices: Acquiesce Winery is renowned for its dedication to organic and sustainable viticulture. They cultivate their vineyards without the use of synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides, instead opting for environmentally friendly and holistic farming methods. This commitment not only preserves the health and well-being of the land but also translates into wines that are free from residual chemicals and exhibit a natural purity that shines through in every sip.
4) Handcrafted Artistry: From vine to bottle, Acquiesce Winery embraces the art of handcrafted winemaking. The winery's small-scale production allows for greater attention to detail throughout the winemaking process. Every grape cluster is carefully hand-picked at its optimal ripeness, ensuring that only the best fruit is selected. This meticulous attention to detail carries on during the winemaking process, where traditional techniques are employed to coax out the flavors and complexities inherent in the grapes. The result is a portfolio of wines that exude elegance, balance, and finesse.
5) Delicate and Elegant Wines: Acquiesce Winery has built a stellar reputation for producing delicate and elegant wines that beautifully showcase the characteristics of the white Rhône varietals grown on their estate. From their award-winning Grenache Blanc to their crisp Picpoul Blanc and aromatic Viognier, each wine is a testament to the winery's commitment to quality and authenticity. These wines often exhibit vibrant acidity, refreshing minerality, and layers of intricate flavors that make them stand out in a saturated market.
In summary, Acquiesce Winery differentiates itself from other wineries in the region through its exclusive focus on white Rhône varietals, estate-grown grapes, organic and sustainable practices, handcrafted artistry, and the production of delicate and elegant wines. These qualities combine to create a winery that is both distinctive and compelling for wine enthusiasts seeking exceptional and unique experiences in California winemaking.
What Some Possible Concerns About Acquiesce Winery
?
While it is important to provide a fair and balanced representation of the winery, it is always best to focus on the positive aspects and experiences. However, if there are any specific criticisms or concerns about Acquiesce Winery, it is essential to handle them tactfully and objectively. For example:
1. Limited Wine Selection: Some visitors may have wished for a broader range of wine options at Acquiesce Winery. While their specialty is white Rhône varietals, individuals preferring red wines might feel disappointed.

Acquiesce Winery
History
Acquiesce Winery is a remarkable gem nestled in the heart of the Lodi AVA (American Viticultural Area) in California. Founded by Sue Tipton in 2012, the winery has quickly gained recognition and admiration for its dedication to producing exceptional Rhône-style white wines.
Sue Tipton's journey into winemaking began when she and her husband, Rodney, purchased a small vineyard property in Lodi. The land had been used for growing Zinfandel grapes, a popular varietal in the region. However, Sue had a different vision. Inspired by her love for white wines and her visits to the Rhône Valley in France, she decided to replant the vineyard with solely white Rhône varietals.
The name "Acquiesce" perfectly encapsulates Sue's approach to winemaking and her deep respect for the environment. It reflects her philosophy of peacefully accepting and embracing the climate and soil conditions of Lodi instead of trying to impose specific grape varieties that may be better suited to other regions. Like a true artisan, Sue let the vineyard speak for itself and carefully nurtured the vines to produce grapes of exceptional quality.
Acquiesce Winery produced its first vintage in 2011 and released its inaugural wines the following year. The focus on white Rhône varietals sets the winery apart in the region, where Zinfandel and red wines typically reign. Sue's steadfast commitment to these varieties and her meticulous attention to detail have resulted in wines that showcase the unique expression of Lodi's terroir for white wine production.
The winery's portfolio features an array of wines, including Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Viognier, and Picpoul Blanc. Each varietal is crafted with great care and precision to highlight the purity and elegance of these grapes. Sue prides herself on producing wines that are whole-cluster pressed, fermented in stainless steel tanks, and aged in neutral French oak barrels. This minimalist approach allows the true characteristics of the fruit to shine through.
Through its masterful winemaking techniques, Acquiesce Winery has earned numerous accolades and a loyal following among wine enthusiasts. Its wines have been praised for their vibrant acidity, distinct aromatics, and beautiful balance. From the crisp and refreshing Grenache Blanc to the luscious and complex Viognier, each bottle is a testament to Sue's dedication to quality and her unwavering belief in the potential of white wines in Lodi.
Not only is Acquiesce Winery known for its exceptional wines, but it also stands out as an environmentally conscious and sustainable operation. Sue Tipton employs organic farming practices, nurturing the soils and ensuring the health of the vineyard ecosystem. The winery firmly believes in letting nature take its course, resulting in wines that are true reflections of the land from which they originate.
Today, Acquiesce Winery continues to garner acclaim and recognition as one of the premier white wine producers in California. Sue Tipton's passion, unwavering dedication, and commitment to excellence shine through in every bottle. As you pour yourself a glass of Acquiesce wine, you embark on a sensory journey that transports you to the picturesque vineyards of Lodi and the southern Rhône Valley.
Introduction
Hello, my name is Franklin Laurel - Welcome!
I started drinking wine in 1992 when I was in my early twenties and recently married. Like many other young Southern Californians, it started out with White Zinfandel. As we were a couple of young DINKs just beginning life together, and on a budget, our go-to-wine was Sutter Home White Zinfandel, which tasted a lot like wine coolers and probably cost at the time $2.49. If we really were going to splurge, we would step it up and buy Beringer White Zinfandel for $2.99. Those were the days....
After a little time, we decided to get fancy. We stepped up our game and bought some wonderful 2-Buck Chuck from Trader Joe's. The Charles Shaw (Trader Joe's Exclusive Label) wine, also known as 2-Buck-Chuck extended our pallet into Reds for only $1.99 a bottle. Over the years we continued to grow in our understanding of wine (finally ran into some good wine) and we slowly kept buying better and better bottles.
Our first wine club purchase was from Kenwood's Vineyards, in Kenwood, California located in Sonoma Valley, right next to the famous Napa Valley. I began to learn about tobacco leather, and earthiness, and lots of other strange terminology when tasting their signature Zinfandels (of the red variety). So that is how it all began.
Fast forward a couple decades, and we have been members of five different wine clubs, and now have a passion for California's red wines. My favorite by far is Cabernet Sauvignon, while my wife fancies a good Syrah, Malbec, or Merlot - but she also loves the smell of a wine barrel room, which is all about the notes of Cabernet Sauvignon.
As I come across great wine resources and useful information that I find in planning my own wine trips, I will share here for anyone that might stumble across my humble website.
Cheers! - Franklin Laurel
