VIE Winery
History
VIE Winery is a renowned winery located in the heart of California's Sonoma County. Established in 2004 by winemaker Bryan Kane, VIE Winery has rapidly gained recognition for its exceptional wines and unwavering commitment to producing high-quality, small-batch wines that truly reflect the unique terroir and character of California's wine country.
The VIE Winery story begins with Bryan Kane's deep-rooted passion for winemaking. Born and raised in California, he developed an early fascination for the art of winemaking and grape growing. After completing his studies in oenology and viticulture at the esteemed University of California, Davis, Kane embarked on a journey to gain hands-on experience in renowned wine regions around the world.
Having worked with some of the most prestigious wineries in Napa Valley and other renowned wine regions across the globe, Kane returned to his native California with a wealth of knowledge and a burning desire to create his own wines that would leave a mark on the industry. With this vision in mind, VIE Winery was born.
VIE Winery started as a small venture, with Kane sourcing grapes from carefully selected vineyards in Sonoma County and other premium wine regions across California. He believed that the foundation of any great wine lies in exceptional fruit sourcing, and he dedicated himself to forging strong relationships with grape growers who shared his passion for quality and sustainability.
From the very beginning, VIE Winery established a reputation for wines that exhibit a rare finesse, elegance, and balance. Kane's winemaking style is deeply influenced by his experiences in Europe, and he employs traditional, hands-on techniques combined with modern practices to carefully craft each wine. His attention to detail and commitment to showcasing the unique expression of each vineyard creates wines that are a true reflection of the region's terroir and the grape varieties grown there.
VIE Winery made its mark early on with its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines. The cool-climate vineyard sites in Sonoma County lend themselves perfectly to producing these Burgundian varietals, allowing the winery to create wines that rival some of the best in the world. With their vibrant aromatics, finesse, and complexity, VIE Winery's Chardonnay and Pinot Noir have garnered critical acclaim and a loyal following.
Over the years, VIE Winery has continued to expand its portfolio to include other varietals such as Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre. Each wine is produced in limited quantities, ensuring that every bottle receives the utmost attention and care throughout the winemaking process.
Beyond the exceptional wines, VIE Winery is deeply committed to sustainability and environmental stewardship. Kane believes that the health of the vineyards is crucial for crafting wines of the highest quality, and therefore, he works closely with growers who employ sustainable farming practices that promote biodiversity and preserve the natural balance of the land.
VIE Winery has made its mark on the California wine industry and has received numerous accolades and awards for its wines. Kane's dedication to his craft, his unwavering commitment to quality, and his innovative approach to winemaking have cemented VIE Winery as a leading producer of premium wines in California.

Introduction
Hello, my name is Franklin Laurel - Welcome!
I started drinking wine in 1992 when I was in my early twenties and recently married. Like many other young Southern Californians, it started out with White Zinfandel. As we were a couple of young DINKs just beginning life together, and on a budget, our go-to-wine was Sutter Home White Zinfandel, which tasted a lot like wine coolers and probably cost at the time $2.49. If we really were going to splurge, we would step it up and buy Beringer White Zinfandel for $2.99. Those were the days....
After a little time, we decided to get fancy. We stepped up our game and bought some wonderful 2-Buck Chuck from Trader Joe's. The Charles Shaw (Trader Joe's Exclusive Label) wine, also known as 2-Buck-Chuck extended our pallet into Reds for only $1.99 a bottle. Over the years we continued to grow in our understanding of wine (finally ran into some good wine) and we slowly kept buying better and better bottles.
Our first wine club purchase was from Kenwood's Vineyards, in Kenwood, California located in Sonoma Valley, right next to the famous Napa Valley. I began to learn about tobacco leather, and earthiness, and lots of other strange terminology when tasting their signature Zinfandels (of the red variety). So that is how it all began.
Fast forward a couple decades, and we have been members of five different wine clubs, and now have a passion for California's red wines. My favorite by far is Cabernet Sauvignon, while my wife fancies a good Syrah, Malbec, or Merlot - but she also loves the smell of a wine barrel room, which is all about the notes of Cabernet Sauvignon.
As I come across great wine resources and useful information that I find in planning my own wine trips, I will share here for anyone that might stumble across my humble website.
Cheers! - Franklin Laurel
