What Makes Inman Family Wines Different From Other Nearby Wineries?

Inman Family Wines stands out among the many wineries in California due to its commitment to producing exceptional, single-vineyard, estate-grown wines while prioritizing sustainable and organic practices. Located in the heart of the Russian River Valley, this winery embodies the essence of artisanal winemaking.

One of the key differentiators of Inman Family Wines is their dedication to sustainable and organic farming. The winery is certified organic and utilizes biodynamic practices, which involve harnessing the natural rhythms of nature to enhance soil fertility and plant health. By avoiding the use of synthetic pesticides or chemicals, Inman Family Wines creates an environment where the grapes can truly express the unique terroir of their vineyards.

In addition to their commitment to sustainable practices, Inman Family Wines is known for their emphasis on single-vineyard wines. Rather than blending grapes from different vineyards to achieve a consistent flavor profile, Inman Family Wines allows the individual vineyards to shine through in their wines. This approach results in wines that reflect the distinct characteristics of each specific terroir, offering a true representation of the land and its potential.

Furthermore, Inman Family Wines focuses on estate-grown grapes, meaning that all the grapes used in their wines are sourced from their own vineyards. This allows for complete control over the quality of the fruit and ensures that only the finest grapes are used in their winemaking process.

Another unique aspect of Inman Family Wines is their dedication to capturing the true essence of the grapes by employing minimalist winemaking techniques. They believe in allowing the fruit to speak for itself, with minimal intervention during fermentation and aging. This approach results in wines with depth, complexity, and an authentic expression of the grape variety and vineyard.

Finally, the founder and winemaker of Inman Family Wines, Kathleen Inman, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the winemaking process. With a background in business, as well as a degree in enology, she combines her passion for winemaking with a meticulous attention to detail. Her innovative and thoughtful approach has garnered numerous accolades and recognition within the industry.

All in all, Inman Family Wines distinguishes itself from other wineries in the region through its sustainable and organic practices, focus on single-vineyard wines, dedication to estate-grown fruit, minimalist winemaking techniques, and the expertise of its founder. These factors combine to create wines that are not only of exceptional quality but also truly reflect the unique characteristics of the Russian River Valley.

Introduction

Hello, my name is Franklin Laurel - Welcome!

I started drinking wine in 1992 when I was in my early twenties and recently married. Like many other young Southern Californians, it started out with White Zinfandel. As we were a couple of young DINKs just beginning life together, and on a budget, our go-to-wine was Sutter Home White Zinfandel, which tasted a lot like wine coolers and probably cost at the time $2.49. If we really were going to splurge, we would step it up and buy Beringer White Zinfandel for $2.99. Those were the days....

After a little time, we decided to get fancy. We stepped up our game and bought some wonderful 2-Buck Chuck from Trader Joe's. The Charles Shaw (Trader Joe's Exclusive Label) wine, also known as 2-Buck-Chuck extended our pallet into Reds for only $1.99 a bottle. Over the years we continued to grow in our understanding of wine (finally ran into some good wine) and we slowly kept buying better and better bottles.

Our first wine club purchase was from Kenwood's Vineyards, in Kenwood, California located in Sonoma Valley, right next to the famous Napa Valley. I began to learn about tobacco leather, and earthiness, and lots of other strange terminology when tasting their signature Zinfandels (of the red variety). So that is how it all began.

Fast forward a couple decades, and we have been members of five different wine clubs, and now have a passion for California's red wines. My favorite by far is Cabernet Sauvignon, while my wife fancies a good Syrah, Malbec, or Merlot - but she also loves the smell of a wine barrel room, which is all about the notes of Cabernet Sauvignon.

As I come across great wine resources and useful information that I find in planning my own wine trips, I will share here for anyone that might stumble across my humble website.

Cheers! - Franklin Laurel
