Cedar View Winery
History
Cedar View Winery, situated in the picturesque Sierra Foothills of California, boasts a rich history intertwined with passion, perseverance, and a deep-rooted love for winemaking. This family-owned and operated winery has been producing exceptional wines since its establishment in 1980, leaving an indelible mark on the California wine industry.
The story of Cedar View Winery begins with the visionary couple, John and Jane Doe. Inspired by the bountiful vineyards surrounding their property, the Does saw an opportunity to channel their love for wine into a lifelong venture. They acquired a modest plot of land, which would eventually become the foundation for their winery and vineyard.
Coming from a long line of winemakers, the Does had the knowledge and expertise necessary to make their winery flourish. With relentless determination, they meticulously researched grape varieties, soil conditions, and winemaking techniques, laying the groundwork for what would become Cedar View Winery.
The early years were filled with both triumphs and challenges. John and Jane Doe planted their first vineyard, carefully selecting grape varietals that would thrive in the region's unique microclimate. Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Chenin Blanc were among the first grapevines to be planted, with the Does taking great care to ensure the vines received optimal sunlight exposure and nutrients from the fertile soil.
Cedar View Winery quickly gained recognition for the quality and distinctiveness of its wines. The artful craftsmanship and attention to detail put into each bottle garnered critical acclaim and a loyal following among wine enthusiasts. As the demand grew, the winery expanded its vineyards and winemaking facilities, investing in cutting-edge equipment to maintain the highest standards of winemaking.
In the late 1990s, tragedy struck the Cedar View family when John Doe passed away unexpectedly. Jane Doe, determined to honor her late husband's legacy, took the helm of the winery, becoming a symbol of strength and resilience within the industry. With unwavering dedication, she continued producing exceptional wines, carrying on the family tradition.
Under Jane Doe's leadership, Cedar View Winery not only maintained its reputation but also experienced remarkable growth. The winery's portfolio expanded to include additional grape varietals, such as Syrah, Viognier, and Cabernet Sauvignon, showcasing the richness and diversity of the region's terroir.
Recognizing the value of sustainability and environmental stewardship, Cedar View Winery became one of the first wineries in California to adopt organic farming practices. The commitment to organic viticulture not only enhanced the quality of their wines but also underscored their dedication to preserving the land for generations to come.

Introduction
Hello, my name is Franklin Laurel - Welcome!
I started drinking wine in 1992 when I was in my early twenties and recently married. Like many other young Southern Californians, it started out with White Zinfandel. As we were a couple of young DINKs just beginning life together, and on a budget, our go-to-wine was Sutter Home White Zinfandel, which tasted a lot like wine coolers and probably cost at the time $2.49. If we really were going to splurge, we would step it up and buy Beringer White Zinfandel for $2.99. Those were the days....
After a little time, we decided to get fancy. We stepped up our game and bought some wonderful 2-Buck Chuck from Trader Joe's. The Charles Shaw (Trader Joe's Exclusive Label) wine, also known as 2-Buck-Chuck extended our pallet into Reds for only $1.99 a bottle. Over the years we continued to grow in our understanding of wine (finally ran into some good wine) and we slowly kept buying better and better bottles.
Our first wine club purchase was from Kenwood's Vineyards, in Kenwood, California located in Sonoma Valley, right next to the famous Napa Valley. I began to learn about tobacco leather, and earthiness, and lots of other strange terminology when tasting their signature Zinfandels (of the red variety). So that is how it all began.
Fast forward a couple decades, and we have been members of five different wine clubs, and now have a passion for California's red wines. My favorite by far is Cabernet Sauvignon, while my wife fancies a good Syrah, Malbec, or Merlot - but she also loves the smell of a wine barrel room, which is all about the notes of Cabernet Sauvignon.
As I come across great wine resources and useful information that I find in planning my own wine trips, I will share here for anyone that might stumble across my humble website.
Cheers! - Franklin Laurel
